These Unhealthy Lifestyles Cause Diarrhea In The Morning

Various causes of diarrhea in the morning are very diverse, ranging from temporary conditions to signs of chronic health conditions. Here are various common causes why a person can experience diarrhea in the morning.

The following unhealthy lifestyles can cause diarrhea in the morning:

1. Smoking

The habit of smoking at night before you sleep or shortly after waking up can be a cause of diarrhea that you feel. This is because the nicotine in cigarettes can make the stool runnier and trigger stomach contractions.

2. Drinking too much alcohol

The habit of drinking excessive alcohol can also cause your stool watery. If you drink alcohol at night before going to bed, then don’t be surprised if the next day when you wake up you experience diarrhea.

3. Midnight snacking

If you wake up at night just for snacking, you can also experience diarrhea the next morning. This also applies to you who are accustomed to eating snacks before going to bed.

4. Consume too much caffeine

It has become quite common that caffeine can increase bowel movements. So, consuming too much coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine can make you go back and forth to the bathroom when morning approaches.

5. Eating breakfast in large portions

If you are accustomed to eating breakfast not long after waking up, especially in large portions, the stomach will feel shocked which will end with diarrhea.

Other causes that are temporary:

1. Dehydration

Dehydration affects the electrolyte balance in the body. Electrolytes work to control how cell membranes work and carry electrical signals that can cause muscles to contract. As a result, if the electrolytes in the body are too little intestinal muscles can be stimulated, causing diarrhea.

2. Pregnancy

Pregnant women are more likely to experience diarrhea in the morning as the body’s response to changes in hormone levels.

3. Viruses

The presence of certain viruses such as influenza in the body can cause the intestines to contract and ultimately cause diarrhea.
